Being Four Rocks

Aunt Cheryl, Uncle Jeff and cousin Jake sent Morgan a birthday card. Getting mail is very fun, but finding 4 dollars and a gift card to Target was beyond exciting!

And here we are the next night with our purchase.

Well, Mom bought the popsicle but Morgan covered the rest.

More Go Team

And just a few more from our last game. I have actually had this calling about a year now. I just haven't had a blog that long. (yeah, they let them play barefoot!)Posted by Picasa

Go Team!

I am the YW Sports Specialist. Stop laughing. All it means is that I show up for practice, games, clap, say "good job", and take pictures. If it actually required sport skills, they would have called someone else. But, here are a few of our cute YW at our last volleyball practice. We are missing a couple, but I'll post more later. From left to right: Brylee, Brittany, Caitlin, Leslie, Brooke, Tay-Tay. We have a lot of fun!Posted by Picasa

Lucky Little Hailey

Doesn't she just look comfy? Poor Hailey gets to deal with this each and every night. (she's young---she'll cope) A couple of nights ago Morgan started going bezerk, crying and trying to hit Hailey. Hailey came and got me, saying she was only trying to get away from the wild thing. Morgan was having some bad dream and was really angry. I could not get her to quite wake up. I just started giving her some soft tickles and sang a song about thinking about nice, happy things 4 year olds like (pink ponies, candy, playing at the park, swimming...) Hailey is the ultimate good sport. She thought the whole thing was amusing. That must be part of the reason Morgan adores Hailey and must "share" the bed with her every night.Posted by Picasa

Subway Saturday

So Steve's latest craze is rappelling and hiking. Since we now live in Southern Utah, there are plenty of areas to do both. He wanted to do "The Subway" at Zions. You have to make reservations and get a permit. It was booked for several months, so the earliest he could get was Saturday, Oct. 13. So we went (12 of us in all). The weather was perfect, but the water was freezing. It took us about 10 hours from starting point to ending point, including a 3 1/2 hour hike out of the Subway back to the parking lot. We are all heavily medicated with ibuprophen today (little did I know my adventures would all begin after I turned 40) Here are some highlights:
Modeling the latest in wetsuits is Lisa, Brylee, Mike, Chase and Taylor....still smiling before touching the water......
Mike, Brian, Lisa and Jill. Still smiling before having to put on wetsuits........
Steve, who is always smiling, as he loves being outdoors!Posted by Picasa
Here is Chase. I don't think this counts as a true "rappell". Just a scarey walk down a cliff holding a little rope.

This looks as if we just waded thru.....this was only a baby one. Most of them we could not touch the bottom and truly swam across as fast as we could because it was beyond cold!

Volleyball master

Taylor has been playing volleyball with her school team. They had a lot of fun and Taylor ended up being a pretty good player. She loves it, too!
This is Taylor with her BFF Kenzi. They are quite the pair and can always manage to have a good time when they are together.

Good Friends Are Hard to Find

We all know how great it is to find good friends. Friends who love you as you are, despite your flaws. We have been lucky to become friends with the Redd family. They live across the street and up a few houses. We see them daily, whether they like it or not. Mike is the dad of the family. He is very special to us. That is why I have dedicated this post to him. I like to call it: The Many Moods of Mike......Enjoy!

This is his party face at Morgan's 4th birthday celebration

This is his cowboy- tough -guy -face. Note that the horse is still tied to the fence.
This is his "Gross, Steve has smelly feet and I can't believe I agreed to play Spin the Phone with him" face
This is his "Where did that blasted bird go?!" look

Mike we would not be complete without your friendship and your family. We hope this makes you feel as special as you are!

Morgan Layne turns Four!

Today, Oct. 1, Morgie turned 4. We invited some friends and Grandma and Grandpa Simmons and met at the park. We ate cake and ice cream, of course. The kids had a great time playing. The only bad thing was it was very windy!
